Linux as a Web Hosting Server

Hi. I want to set my linux up as a web hosting server for personnel use. I want to use my computer as a server instead of my ISP’s server. What would be the steps to take in order to do this. I have @home cable now, using windows me. I also have a personnal website thru them as well.
I know a little about the how too’s, but lack the hands on experience to do this. I will leave it to you to explain the how too’s.
