Lost access to folder properties

In a test environment I’m running, I’ve recently lost access to my folder properties – no error messages, I just get the properties sheet if I right click the folder then left click properties – nothing happens! I’ve tried accessing by opening the folder and getting the properties from the file menu, but that doesn’t work either. Suggestions????
