Hey everyone, semi-long time reader over here but, first time actual poster/posting. I have a question regarding a problem of mine, as my title says I have lost my connection, internet connection. I have two computers, one is setup with Comcast high speed, the other uses a netgear adapter to connect. As you guys know Comcast’s connection is always on, I’m always directly connected to the internet, and my other computer connects automatically whenever it is started up, with roughly the same kind of speed. Here is the problem, the other day I installed some software I bought for my “main” computer, and decided to add these very same programs to my secondary. Now these programs are upgrades to previous versions I had, I’ve been running these particular softwares for over several years with computer a, so when I decided to install them into computer b, I didn’t think there would be any problems. But after I finished installing those programs, the next day when I went to start up computer b, I had no internet connection. Now the programs I installed were Tuneup Utilities 07, WINASO Registry Optimizer 3.0, AVG Internet Secruity 7.5 and System Mechanic 6 Professional (I had 7 but with all the problems I was experiencing with this upgraded version, I went back to what I used before.). Now I’m thinking the problem could be a result of several things.. My firewall with AVG is blocking netgear from establishing a connection, or when I did the internet optimizers with Tuneup and System Mechanic, I ran the wrong setup. When First trying to reach a connection through netgear, I had to setup a username and enter a network key (The Installer from Comcast had/entered one). And to connect I had to search for a wireless network, which through the setup it picked up the one running on computer a, so after all that I had to click a button to connect, disconnect, but once you connect it has the option to connect automatically at the startup. I bring that up because doesn’t that make this a PPPoE internet connection? If thats so then I think I just as I said earlier ran the wrong internet optimizer setup. But before I do anything else wrong I wanted to hear what the experts had to say on this matter. I’m not too acute when it comes to this technical stuff, so please all help/input is welcome, thank you for your time.
