I need assistance for an Excel file I inadvertently lost. I am working with Office XP version 2002.
The original file contents are gone and file with original name now encompass the contents of another Excel file. I did not cut and paste into this file so do not know how this happened other than that I now have two files with different names but with the same content. I desperately need to recover the original file contents.
This happened approx. two weeks ago therefore system restore to retrieve the original file would probably create more problems.
I have looked in my temp files in C:\ and see many Excel files. I have tried to open several by renaming the ~dfxxxx.tmp file to ~dfxxxx.xls in attempt to open but am not successful in deleting the .tmp and end up with ~dfxxx.xls.tmp which I cannot open.
