Lost Exch server but want pub store back

I’ve recently lost my Exchange server due to it being riddled with the Nimda virus. I had backed it up the night before. I’ve now rebuilt it and re-created all the mailboxes manually. However, I want to restore my public folders from Backup. I have tried but keep getting an error starting the Info. store service when complete. By my reckoning I will need to set up another Exchange server and restore to their, then export to CSV and import on the correct server.
Is there a quicker way? As you can tell I’m no Exchange guru as I tend to work with AS400’s.
