Lost HD Capacity

I run XP Pro with a 140gig HD IDE, I suspect this drive is not long for this world so I have bought and installed a new 200gig IDE as a primary slave, the problem is thatCMOS recognises the drive but states it only has a 38 meg capacity! HDDlife also confirms its only 38meg. I know the drive is 200gig so whats wrong, I have checked the installation and it appears to be correct. If I go into My Coumputer the new drive is not listed Help please
