Lost Internet Connection

Lost broadband Internet connection. My operating system is Win98. After AOL was installed on computer and then uninstalled, lost ability to access Internet. Still receive IP address and can be pinged by Comcast, the isp which provides both the cable modem and connection. I also receive the following message on Microsoft networks, WnetOpenEnum 1245. Any ideas.
