Lost kernal

I have an error which prevents me from booting windows 2000 professional. The error is that I’m missing my ntoskrnl 32 or might be corrupted. I looked for a erd i thought I made, but couldn’t find it. Without formatting C: is there a way I can Restore this? I have tried from the windows 2000 CD and from the 4 boot discs I have. It gives me an error , something about disabling shadowing or something????
