Lost Laptop BIOS password!

Hi I have a laptop, on which I put a on a password at some point. The OS Windows XP got corrupted and I’d like to do a clean install but some reason it won’t reboot from any drive other than the hard drive and I need it to start from the dvd drive to install XP. Can anyone help me reset the password? Thanks.
