lost mail

I was down loading mail from remote server(windows server 203 pop3)while mail was being downloaded my pc crached ,when restarted there was no mail.(17 messages)we r not on domain just a connection for mail to our remote site.
Is there any way of recovering the mail?
or where should i look for the mail on my pc?
on saved copy on the server.
