Lost My Documents

I am trying to help a friend who lost her data. She was running XP Pro and her motherboard fried. We put her hard drive into another computer as a slave and we can see all the data except for the “My documents” folder. She was running XP with a log-in password. We tried booting to this drive to allow us to input the password, but it doesn’t boot, instead it loops between the boot screen to the bios and the options for safe mode. Nothing seems to be wrong with the drive, when slaved we can see every file except for the My Documents Folder. Any suggestions? Thanks a lot,
