Lost my TCP/IP

I have two Win 98 Second Edition Desktops. I have installed Belkin Ethernet Software and the adapter cards to network them computers. I am attempting to network a laptop to one destop at a time (one at home one at work). Everything seemed to go okay. I rebooted and now on BOTH of the Destops I cannot log onto the Internet like I used to. I have ATT Worldnet. The TCP/IP seems to be missing on one and it won’t let me reinstall it. The otherone still has TCP/IP but still no log on. One keeps disconnecting (the one without TCP/IP) the other one gets on but I can’t get any further. What do I do? Thank you.
