Lost NT4 PDC

Hi – my client has (had) a three server NT4 domain – two BDCs, also running a MS cluster, plus the PDC – all server hardware over ten years old.

The PDC has now failed terminally (unhealthy clunking sounds coming from hard disk) so I’m left with two BDCs, and a bunch of workstations (running a mixture of NT4 and XP).

My original plan was to make sure all the cluster resources were on one node, promote the other node to PDC (temporarily), build a new BDC and promote that to be PDC, and the cluster node can revert to BDC.

Now the application support team (who’s application runs on the cluster) are a bit twitchy about having one of the cluster nodes become the PDC, even temporarily – but I don’t think there’s an alternative?
