Lost System Restore Points

Some how either due to a virus or system meltdown I lost a ton of data as well as all viable System Restore Points. I can only go back 2 days and it tells me there was an error and I cannot restore to that time.

I ran a data revcovery tool and I was able to find some points..is there a way to recover them and restore back to when everything was candy and roses? Then I can do a real good backup and go from there.
