lost taskbar and desktop icons

I have a Windows 2k server that had a hard drive failure. The system is mirrored so I removed the bad drive while waiting for a replacement. The system boots up and I can get to the files on the machine from the network but I have no taskbar or icons on the screen. Any suggestions?
