Lost Win2000 password, but can get into NT, how recover 2000?

by deadletter . Updated 19 years, 3 months ago

I’ve forgotten my Win2000 passwords – to both my account & to Admin (well either I have forgotten them or it has;-).
But it’s a dual boot machine, and I can get into NT.
Is there as way I can reset the 2000 password from NT?
Or view the 2000 product key (from NT)… & I’ll then re-install.

What confuses me is that (from NT explorer) I can see both drives, each has a “Winnt” folder, but neither has a “Windows” folder.
Also, I looked in both $winnt$ files, but product key isnt there.

BACKGROUND: It’s a dell latitude, that went US with power on problems, so I stopped using it, but now I’ve read that this is a common problem and re-seating the processor has fixed it. but interveaning time has erased MY memory 😉

Any guidance, greatly appreciated.
