Our 4 Mac clients are randomly losing their network connections to the server running AppleShare IP. All clients and server have static IP addressing.
We’ve noticed that moving 3 of the clients to a LinkSys 5-port hub seems to have solved the problems with those 3 clients. The 4th client is connected through another part of the network and still randomly loses its connection (several times a day).
All connections used to go through a 3Com SuperStack 3 Dual Speed 24-port hub, which seems to produce approx 2-3 thousand collisions while transfering a 4-6MB file. This even occurs when only 2 workstations are connected to the hub. This doesn’t occur on the LinkSys hub.
Any idea’s?
