I am using W2KProf’ on my home PC w/o network, I have configured Outlook 2000 & Outlook Expp’ 5 as email clients to recieve emails from Yahoo & hotmail email acocunt.
It was working fine. I was ableto recieve 7 send messages/mails in my Personal folders and even Identities. My .pst files were stored in C:\Documents and Settings\\LocalSettings\Application\Data\Microsoft\Outlook\mailbox.pst And my outlook express identies were stored in C:\Documents & Settings\\LocalSettings\ApplicationData\Identies\….I setup mandatory profile for loging to W2K. I changed my ntuser.dat to ntuser.man to make my profile mandatory by renaming ntuser.dat to ntuser.man and from controlpanel>system>user profile I copied my profile to a shared folder called and given the path for the same copied profile on shared folder at profile tab in local user’s properties, After this I logged In with my user account and password, I was able to log in and see my Desktop settings but I was not able to access my Personal Folders in Outlook 2000. and also mails in Outlook Express. My Email account settings are there in both the clients. Error message I am getting is unable to find the mailbox.pst file at the C:\Document and Settings\\Local Settings\Microsoft\Outlook\ and similarly with identies in Outlook Express. After checking I found that the folders ‘Outlook’ & ‘Identies’ are no more there. Which were there before logging with mandatory profile. These folder were not copied to the shared folder profiles.I checked ‘recycle bin’ may be by accidentley might have got deleted but were not there. For verification I created a test account and repeated the same above procedure and it had happened same. I tried by renaming ntuser.man to ntuser.dat and removed the path for the profiles, it didn’t worked.I checked using “undelete” utility but with that also nothing shown deleted.
