MS Excel Error

I,m using office 2000 & have recently faced problem ,If I open Excel Sheet(new) enter data in cell & try to chage the font to Bold. I get error “Microsoft Excel has encountered a problem and need to close.We are sorry for the inconvenience” I,m unable to find the cause. OS is Windows XP with SP2
