I just got a Belkin Nostromo N52, fresh out of the box. Installed the drivers, plugged it in and loaded notepad just to test out some stuff (it’s default bindings are a fairly generic WASD type setup for first person shooters)
Now as soon as I hit ANY key (usually 03 which is w) it puts r in front initially (05) and then it just keeps spamming r (typically this is the output it’ll give me when i hit 03: rwrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr etc..)
I’m certain all keyboard shortcuts like sticky keys are disabled (even if they wernt, it wouldnt account for button being pressed like that and being held until i physically unplug the device)
I have Windows XP with SP2 installed and have tried uninstalling/reinstalling the drivers, rebooted, and even tried it without any drivers at all (it has the default WASD built into its firmware i believe…not sure the technical details of how it works on that end)
Also I tried it on another computer which barly has more than Win XP (without SP 1 or 2) and Office installed and it does the exact same thing.
This has also happened on a Sidewinder control pad of mine as well although at the time i just thought it was broken. But with this, I’m starting to believe it may be something native with Windows XP causing a problem for it.
I’ve been looking all over the net for a solution but this site is the closest i’ve come when i got a google hit off of it… Even belkin’s own manual has a closely related issue listed (“After using the Loadout Manager, Windows is acting erratically, as if a keyboard button was constantly pressed” which is only most the case, i dont need to use the loadout manager for it happen) but neither the manual or site has a solution which leads me to believe their tech support wont be much help in this…
Any help/ideas are greatly appreciated…
