I work for a small telemarketing firm that does B2B phone work. We have 8 people working and I am responsible for the network which is run simply off a PC in my shop with windows 7 a NAS, network printers and the other workstations which are complete PC’s. We have a new customers that is going to give us work for about a one year long selling campaign but they have needs that we have to comply with to do the work. The owner went out and bought a a server and Server 2008 r2 and said make it work. I basically build and repair PC’s and do hard wire small networks and have never managed a server.
Our new requirements are
1 we need to be able to receive excel spreadsheets (large lead lists from the client) from a remote site.
2. We need to be able to allow the client to “Live Monitor” our phone conversations remotely to ensure our compliance
3 we need to be able to record all phone conversations and store them for 90 days to protect the client from liability for misrepresentation.
4 we need a one or two page website that the client can log into to review the recordings and upload new lead lists to us.
The problem: can we do all this off a hosted site like “Go Daddy” or do we need our own server?

I have the server built and loaded but have no idea what services to install and or do I need to set up more that one server on the system as I need an FTP server a DNS server for our website and something to store all the recordings on. I know little (enough to blow my brains out) about server administration or DNS servers or FTP sites, I like my job but there are others here that depend on our system for their jobs too, not to mention my boss’s company. I would love to learn server software but I don’t think there is enough time to get familiar enough to do the job, thats why I was thinking we should sell the server and go with a hosted site. My boss is out looking at additional software that will do the recordings and we use VoiP for our phone service so soft phones are not new to us. if you need more spec on our setup just let me know but I could use some advise pretty quick, thanks for taking the time to read and respond to this.
