I have two computers: Both have 2 partitions to enable dual OS’s (Windows 2000) on each machine. I am saving images of each partition (4 in all) onto an Iomega external HDD, via USB1.1 (all the computers are geared for).
The computers are entirely NTFS format.
The images save ok (though I see some error briefly in the DOS screen I can’t quite catch, about drivers or something), choosing USB1.1 in the advanced settings.
When I go to restore things, the individual partitions (and thus OS’s) are not available to restore to individually (dimmed out), but just “Disk 1” which contains both C:\ and D:\
I’ve read about the trouble between file systems, and have tried FAT32 and NTFS on the external drive, to no avail. I don’t want to change from NTFS on the computers…
What is wrong here? Is this a file system problem, a dual-boot problem?
Would I be better off imaging both drives at once (1 image for each computer) instead of 1 at a time (2 for each computer)?
