I recently had need for a new keyboard as I’m not a touch typist and nearly half of the letters had worn off of my old keyboard making typing difficult.
I screwed up. The first keyboard I bought from Walmart, which I still have, was as cheap a model as I could find. The problem is, to these old eyes, the small printing on the keys is hard to see and it prompted me to use Google to see if there weren’t some large letter keyboards.
After a brief search I settled on a Viskey keyboard. http://www.visikey.net/catalog/ I wanted to go wireless so I checked various vendors and chose Amazon.com. I’d never ordered from them and only knew that they’re a huge outfit so I thought I’d take the chance.
Ordering was done in the usual way and my wireless keyboard arrived three days after my order. Great! One problem though, the q,a,z and 1,4,7 keys didn’t work. Now a slight shopper’s panic/buyer’s remorse set in as I had to return it. I’ve never returned merchandise that I’d bought online with a credit card before.
I couldn’t find an easy link to return my item! There was a customer service number however and the voice recording told me where the return page was located. It was easy after I navigated to the right spot. Amazon remembered me as a customer, I checked the item that I wanted to return and was prompted to print out a barcoded RMA, giving my reason for return, to put in the box with the keyboard. Since I was returning it via the USPS I was also prompted to print out a barcoded mailing label with free shipping for my return item. Awesome!
From the time my keyboard arrived practically DOA until the time it was back at the post office had taken less than three hours.
Please note: While at Amazon the second time, to get the RMA and all, I decided to order the wired version of the Viskey keyboard. Amazon had made the return of the first keyboard so simple I thought that I’d take another chance.
Amazon claims that it takes, I think, 10 to 14 days before you’ll receive credit for your returned merchandise. They sent me email yesterday saying that they’d credited my account and after checking my online banking account this morning I see that the credit is in there. That’s barely five days after sending the keyboard back and, the best part, they refunded my entire purchase price including the shipping cost! They ended up paying shipping both ways!
I’m VERY satisfied with my new, wired, Visikey keyboard. Even though it was ordered through Amazon it came from another vendor selling thru Amazon. Delivery service was just as fast as Amazon’s and I’m pleased to say that everything works on this keyboard. I can even see these keys in low-light at arms length with my glasses off and my vision, without glasses, is 20/200+ and I’m nearsighted.
Based upon my experience, I can virtually guarantee that I’ll be ordering from Amazon again. Great, painless ordering and return service. The only bad part of the whole thing is that now I have no good excuse for my frequent typos.
If you ask me, Amazon.com knows how to do business right. I recommend them. I recommend Viskey keyboards too even though my wireless keyboard had problems. There could’ve been some interference, I didn’t try to troubleshoot it I just sent it back.
Now I have two places that I trust shopping at online, TigerDirect.com and Amazon.com.
