.ost vs .pst

We are considering switching our clients from various versions of Outlook currently with .pst’s to Outlook 2003. What would the benefits be of switching from the current pst file format to the ost format? The clients do not currently have access to the Corporate Global Address List, which is one of the primary reasons for the change request.
