Outlook Data File (PST files)

Hi,

How do you remove an Outlook Data file link on your Outlook? For example, when you open a PST file in Outlook for viewing archive emails and then you accidentally moved the PST file to another location but forgot to close it out in Outlook first. I have a couple of folders that I either change the name of the PST or deleted them but forgot to close it out so now the links are still on my Outlook. I’ve tried renaming it and putting the PST file back to its original location but Outlook is not taking it. I get the error “The set of folders could not be open.” When I try to close it, I get the error “Operation failed. Object cannot be found.” Is there a way to delete this link from Outlook? An alternative is to create another Outlook profile and start fresh but I would rather figure out a way to delete it first because I want to keep all my settings. Thanks!
