OWA inbox empty, all mail in .ost

Alright, I know that sounds obvious, but here is the problem. The user was able, past tense, to access his email from any pc via OWA. I have made some changes, one I changed our firewall smtp filter to smtp proxy, also the Exchange 5.5 SP4 and thelatest hot fix. Now he can sign on to OWA, I can send him email and get his Out of Office Reply, but it does not go to his OWA inbox, he can send to himself and get nothing. Close out OWA, sign on to VPN, open Outlook 2002, there is all the messages.
He’s getting frustrated as he does’t want to take his laptop everywhere (has .ost).
Any ideas?
