Page numbering by section without using “Chapter” formatting

I have a document that I want the page numbering to be relative to the section (1-1, 1-2, 1-3, 2-1, 2-2, etc.) and have come across a few articles that discuss how to do so with the headings formatted as a multi-level list using “Chapter”.

My issue? I don’t want the word “Chapter” in each of my headings. I don’t want chapter,section or whatever…just a simple 1., 2., 3., etc

Is there a setting somewhere I am missing which turns this off?
