PaperPort Links Manager failure

I have just installed a Visioneer Strobe Pro scanner with PaperPort Delux v7. When loading Paperport is get the error ‘The links manager has not finished loading’. When I try links preferences I get an application error and PaperPort crashes. On Pc shutdown I also get a DDE error. My O/S is Win2000, and I already have a HP OfficeJet Scanner configured.
