Phone Number Format in Outook 2003

How do I cahnge the format Outlook displays in the contacts field? Some are showing (xxx)xxx-xxxx and some are showing xxx-xxx-xxxx. I want them all to display as the latter. If I chane the one in the (xxx) format) the revert back to the (xxx) after I save them. Thanks – PJ
