I have been struggling for about 6 weeks to locate the most cost effective training program for me to put my limited personal funds into. I am an ex-Systems Administrator between jobs (Working a temp job right now) I have looked at MCSE study courses for $3,000, and places like SmartPlanet.com for $499. I have found book sets in book stores etdc, but the big problem is, I would hate to plunk down hundreds or thousands of dollars only to discover that I wasted the money on lousy teaching technique, or brain dumped paper certification courses etc. I am gathering from professionals I have spoken with that experience is the main key in informed hiring, and certifications (especially MCSE type) have gotten a rather bad name in the past few years due to the brain dump ‘teach the test’ type boot camps. I would truly appreciate contacts with your personal experience in great value of courses I can study (only) at home in myfree time to further my value and employability. I have strong security and Linux skills, medium to strong NT-Win2k skills (inluding security for those) bu ONLY in an Internet server type environment. (many servers, 1 users) as opposed to the business model of 1 server, many users)
