Problem Opening Excel Spreadsheet

Here is the lowdown:

One user has a problem opening a spreadsheet she gets sent from other members of staff. Everyone else who has access can open the file no problem.

The file will open but displays a gray screen where the text should be, but if you go to print preview you can see the text.

I have tried various steps:
Check file is not hidden
Unchecked the file for ignore other applications
Opening excel and using the open command

Sometimes the file will open but most of the time it will not. It is only this file that there is a problem with!
