problems using ghost-harddrive-tool

by europanorama . Updated 24 years, 3 months ago

i have tested and used ghost a lot. and i have found a lot of-sometimes confusing-informations at symantecs site.
i have 2 problems:
1. i am uanble to burn directly from harddrive(540mb-sized) to a cd. indirectly via a partion of a second harddrive is no problem. also no problem mirroring back from cd to harddrive.
in my opinion its not clear which bootdiskversion one has to take and which dos-version has to be on that disk. my burning system has winme and my harddrive has ms-dos 6.22/win3.1x. symantec mentions one has to delete the cd-rom-drivers from the bootdisk. is anybody here to give a clear instruction what one has to do when burning directly to cd and mirroring back to a harddrive using a bootdisk. one more big problem is: if the harddrive contains a bootprogram like ddo(dynamic drive overlay) i cannot see the drive in windows me. i am not sure if i will destroy the hd if i enter fdisk/mbr.
the second problem was when i had to duplicate a 1.2 gb-harddrive with 2 partitionsto a smaller one. i have made the second partition smaller in the way th total size will be equal with the second disk. it was impossible to copy partition 1 to the second drive, only disk to disk which resulted in a 1:1-copy with 2 partions. ok, ican use partition magic to make a single partion. can i avoid this last step. what was wrong?
