Pseudo Excel DB

by krispy . Updated 19 years, 4 months ago

I have a temporary amount of data I want to store. it is about 500-1000 records. I need to use Excel since it will be shared by a few people and we cannot go through the necessary process to approve a different application nor roll it out.

It is very wide across the page and has about 30-50 fields. I have manipulated by colour coding the sections and organizing the information into the categories and freezing panes. The colour coding is what I would want to see on a real database tab….I have also created a file layout tab that describes what each field is for. It works quite well other than being very manual and no data integrity or validation controls…….I don’t know if there is a simple way to manipulate this Excel file that is not to advanced in set-up. The person I work with will not be able to fix it if it breaks if I make it to advanced……So on-going maintenance is also a factor.

Is there a quick (simple) way to have three separate worksheets and ensure that when a record is added or changed that it updates each row in every work-sheet? Something that I could write out instructions for if I am not there and it ‘break’s for some reason.
