.pst files – lost ’em!!

by amikucki . Updated 22 years, 4 months ago

Environment: Outlook 2000, Exchange Server 2000 (I’m pretty sure), on a Win2K server. Majority of clients are running Outlook 2000 on Win98SE.

Recently began an exercise to create .pst files for our users, and have them start moving files off server into personal archives. I have been doing this on my XP-Pro laptop, without a hiccup for over a year.

However, today one of the Win98 user’s PC “froze” while she was purging her recently created .pst files, and after rebooting, the .pst file was “not found” when Outlook reopened.

Ran Norton Utilities “Unerase”, and found a file to recover, but it came back as 0kb and Outlook keeps saying “file is not a personal folders file”.

2 questions: Any suggestions for how to recover this user’s .pst file, and what should we do differently for others?
