PST (Outlook Data) File Hangs

I am using Outlook 2002 (Office XP). I have a PST (Outlook Data) file that is 1.4 GB. I cannot move items into the file nor can I delete items from the file. Every time I try it hangs. I have run scanpst twice and it finds no problems. Any solutions or suggestions.
