RDP connection issue post active node change on w2k3 cluster

by cenedra . Updated 18 years, 11 months ago

I’ve got a bit of an odd problem and wondered if anyone had any ideas.

I’ve got a Win2k3 (sp1) 2-node cluster (Active/Passive) and any time the active node switches, either because of a failure or because it’s been manually moved, I have issues connecting back onto either the active node or the virtual machine (the passive node I can connect to fine).

From a winxp pro sp2 client I press the “connect” button and the “Remote Desktop Connection” and that flashes as if it’s doing something and then comes back having done nothing. I’ve had task manager up on my client at the time and the processor’s not apparently doing anything. The event logs on the server also show nothing. If I continue to press “connect” I eventually get through, although frequently I get an “insufficient resources” error regarding my local profile. After a few hours of behaving like that it reverts to completely normal behaviour.

Our cluster is a file server and service to end users is not degraded during this time, although support have some difficulties with file restores (again the occassional “insufficient resources” error)
