I first read about Ready-Boost a few months ago and finally decided to give it a try after a glowing review from one of the writers on ZDnet. (Sorry I can’t remember the name).
For awhile it seemed to work as advertised, Then one day I tried to go to control panel and guess what? It was gone. I even did a search for it and there was not a trace of the program to be found.
After an hour or so of serious frustration it occurred to me that my (devoted) Ready-Boost might be worth looking at, though surely a search should have found it. There it was, along with several other programs that I hadn’t noticed missing yet.
When you choose what type of files you want to use Ready-Boost for I suggest you don’t choose general. Even though control panel would run from there, you wouldn’t know to look there unless by process of elimination like I lucked into.
Maybe M.S. explained all this somewhere but I never saw it. I hope this saves some of you from the panic I experienced.
