Rehosting Project Lessons Learned

I am about to start managing an HP3000 to an HP9000 rehosting project. The HP3000 runs a shop floor control system, which has 39 applications, is used in 40 sites (international) and runs 24x7x365. I am interested in lessons learned from anyone that has rehosting experience.
