Replace logo in multiple word documents at once

What is the most efficient method to replace an image in several documents and templates automatically? (letterhead, memo, contracts, etc.). A batch of some kind?

There would be 2 possible environments. In some of the documentation the image file is linked and in some cases the image file is embedded.
