Restoring mailbox.pst

Hi,
Ive just rebuilt my PC with XP having saved my mailbox.pst file to restore to the new setup thereby saving my old mail and address book. Thought I’d just be able to overwrite new one created when Outlook 2000 was loaded but can’t find it. I have found outlook.pst and expected mailbox.pst to be in same location. Is there something I have to do to get the basic mailbox.pst created?
