Rights in Company Calendars

I am trying to find out if there is a legal reason why a person ( Owner or company) could not require that all users give him permissions to see their calendars. It seems ethically wrong to me, but if I knew it was legally wrong I could nip it in the bud now. I have been looking for months to find an answer, any help on this would be great!!!!
