Router Won’t Dial Broadband Connection

I can connect directly to with my computer to my DSL Modem but I my router won’t dial the connection. The problem started suddenly. I haven’t changed any of my settings. One day the router worked, then next day it didn’t. I tried/tested other routers with the same result.

here’s what I’ve tried:

Verified my login and password are correct
Cycled all devices several times

Tried several different brands of routers

Listened in with a telephone to the DSL line for line noise/static

Here’s the equipment/resources I use:

Speedstream 5260 Modem
Earthlink DSL

The router tech support companies blame earthlink.

Earthlink just tries to sell me additional services and can’t offer any solution.

I’m stumped and I seem to stump everyone else I speak with about it. Any help or experience with this will be much appreciated!
