Search feature lost in IE 6

I have a client who recently removed some malware from his computer. Now when he tries to run search, he gets the search menu box with the no search bars. Just the little dog sitting there wagging his tail. The area above him is one solid blue block. In IE 6 it is the same. He also cannot print correctly from outlook (dont know if that is related). When you select print from the icon bar, nothing happens. When you select it from the file, print , again nothing. Would a repair of IE 6 fix these problems?
