“Search” is lost

I copied my TR disk about servicing Windows 9x onto the hard-drive of a W2000, so I would not have to keep loading the CD tray, and did the install. Then realized the install wasn’t really necessary, because I could shortcut right to the TOC’s html on the copy. So I uninstalled what I had just installed; the shortcutting works fine — BUT: The very next thing I did was use the Windows function at START>Search>For files and folders — and it no longer works. The Search function still works, but only when I use it from the toolbar in an opened folder. Any idea how to make it work again?
