Searching fields in a custom contact form in Outlook 2003

I created a basic custom contact form in Outlook 2003. I’ve managed to apply it and make it the default form for my contact database but when doing a simple search it won’t pull up anything unless I go into the advanced search and pull up the exact field I want to search. I was under the impression that just by search a word that it would pull up all the contacts that have that word. Why isn’t this working? I’ve added 3 extra fields: Affiliation 2 – 4 and I even changed it to a user defined field thinking maybe that was the problem. Does anyone know the reason for this?
