I am attempting to ‘upgrade’ our exchange server to ex2k3.
I am wondering if there is some config or collation that will allow me to migrate users mailboxes to the ‘new’ server individually (over a period of weeks) while still maintaining internal and external send and receipt.
I find I must remove the ‘smart host’ details (external – Star) to allow messages to pass between the 2 servers, but without the ‘smarthost’ messages may not be sent externally.
While I do or don’t have the smarthost detail addedd messages directed externally (ie from a migrated user mailbox on the ex2k3 server) simply disappear – that is they don’t appear stuck in the smtp queue.
I need to maintain the current ex2k server’s external connections, while users are migrated to the new 2k3 server, such that they can still send and receive both internally and externally.
Any ideas?
