I heave a wonderful “challenge”. Unfortunately, i’m stuck and I hope somebody can get me back on track:
Our company is located in two locations. They are connected through a SDSL connection. There is only one DHCP server for the entire network. The router at the co-location is confgured with an ip-helper address.
Some users with laptops travelling between locations have connectivity-troubles at the co-location.
When they are at the co-location and start up their laptops, they get an ip address from the right scope, with the right options like default gateway, dns, etc.
However: as soon as the laptop has it’s IP, it can’t communicate to the other side. It can communicate with other host on the same subnet, inclusive the router, but if you try to leave the subnet, it fails.
when checking the route table of the laptop, it seems OK. Starting a trace to the other location only gives timeouts.
To make it even more complex: The desktops at the co-location work perfectly. On the laptops, there is no personal firewall active or something that kind.
If somebody has a suggestion, really would be appreciated!
