Break the stereotype of being grumpy and pessimistic? To share my knowledge with others? Oh, my, how cute! Almost like Fiorina’s face.
Now let’s see… Offshoring is running rampant, Hutus and Tutsis are laying fiber optic all over Rwanda, and even North Korea became a destination. Meanwhile, on the our side of the globe, the only economic recoveries we ever see are jobless. Or better yet, job-loss. Well, this seems like a pretty good reason to be grumpy and pessimistic. So, I guess I’ll just stay grumpy and pessimistic despite of the 48upper.com Manifesto presuming I’m not.
Besides offshoring and layoffs, there is another thing silently running rampant in the IT: Ageism. The only reason that I’m still keeping my IT job despite of my age & attitude, is my 2+ decades long experience. I’ve always been keeping up with technology, learned a lot, kept my mind open, and consequently know a lot of things that are not thaught in them fancy IT schools. So, no matter how cool and fancy 48upper.com migt be, I guess it would be pretty stupid of me to share my knowledge with my competition. Yeah, competition. Competition for the ever decreasing number of IT jobs.
So, fuck the 48upper.com. I’m not touching it with a borrowed 10ft pole.
