Stand-By/Hibernate Option Lost in XP Pro

My notebook had this function till I cleaned out the unused programs through the control panel. Now this option on Shut-down is greyed out. I allow Hibernate under Power Saving. I ran SFC (System File Check) which did not find any missing files to replace or restore. How can I get this back as hibernation is much faster than a complete Boot-Up.
