stripping deleted email frm OLk PST file

We have a client who is still using MS Mail delivering email to Outlook 2000 PST file. They have emptied deleted items accidently and now want it back. Of course everyone says it can’t be done or have no tools for it, MS Q245776 says that deleted data is still floating around the .PST file and that a regisry entry needs to be changed to get it to actually clear it out. So I was wondering if anyone has been able to recover these deleted items from the PST file where the recycle bin was emptied….Thanks
